Net na vyf-uur Saterdagmiddag toe die Wallabies binne vyf minute 14-0 voor was, was die atmosfeer hier soos n Egiptiese grafkelder. Muf, doodstil, en jy hou nie van wat jy sien nie.
Toe die Springbokke hul eerste drie druk, het daar so n klein suurstofstraaltjie die grafkelder binnegekom, teen rustyd het ons begin praat en asemhaal, en toe die eindfluitjie blaas, het dit gevoel of ons buite in helder sonlig sit, met n koel briesie wat trek onderwyl almal lag en gesels. Maar dit was intens!

JULLE moes ons Saterdagmiddag hier in die Oase gesien het... stomgeslaan na die eerste vyf minute van die toetswedstryd teen die Wallabies. Nie eers die Professor was sy gewone spraaksame self nie. Doodstil. Jy kon die ongeloof met n "swizzle stick" aanvoel.
