Massive police chase and shoot-outs after garage robbed

An Idutywa garage was robbed on Friday morning 27 August at about 08h00 when an undisclosed sum of money was robbed and a car stolen. Three police officers gave chase and the suspects took off in the direction of Emgcwe Village at Ngqamakwe. A shoot-out ensued between the police and the suspects and unfortunately, a 31 year old police constable was shot dead. The name of the deceased will be released once his next of kin have been informed.

Ms Omega Thabethe (30) from uMthwalume says that she has been in pain eversince she was operated on at Port Shepstone Regional Hospital on 4 August 2006 to deliver her child. Ms Thabethe said that on arrival, the nurses told her that she would give birth by means of cesarean section. They called the doctor who checked her to confirm that indeed she would be operated on to deliver her baby. She was brought to the theatre for the operation. The following day, a doctor operated her and discharged her.

Cop stoned to death

AN off-duty police officer was stoned to death while his companion received serious wounds on Sunday this week. According to the SAPS, captain Kevin Marallich (53) and his companion Kathy Potgieter (59) were fishing at a dam on Ashhill farm in the Nyoni area. Police urge peace in taxi industry

The South African Police Services (SAPS) has condemned the recent incident which followed the eruption of drama between two taxi associations. It is alleged that this incident led to two taxi drivers under the South African Border Taxi Alliance (SABTA) being shot and sustaining injuries while another one was stabbed near Ngqeleni junction recently. The SAPS appealed to them to the associations to sit down and iron out differences in order to make peace.
